Hong Kong parks

Hong Kong Park
An eight hectare park behind the Pacific Place shopping mall. Use Admiralty MTR Exit C1 (2521 5041).

Hong Kong Wetland Park
A wetland interactive world with a visitor's centre and home to a wide collection of fauna and flora.

Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens
Over 1,000 species of plants, 600 birds and other popular animals. Albany Road, Central, Hong Kong, use Admiralty MTR Exit C2 (2530 0154).

Mai Po Wetlands
A nature reserve with mangrove forests and many birds. Mai Po yuen Long in the New Territories, permits are needed (2526 4473).

Tai Tam Reservoir
An open space to view birds, butterflies and Asian flora. Tai Tam Country Park is located at Wong Nai Chung Gap Road, use bus 6 or 61 and disembark at Hong Kong Cricket Club.

Victoria Park
A large park in Causeway Bay with swimming pools, jogging tracks, tennis courts and a foot massager garden. Very busy at weekends with locals exercising. Causeway Bay, use Tin Hau MTR Exit A2 (2570 6186).

Kowloon Park
A 14 hectare park in the Tsim Sha Tsui with Chinese Gardens and open-air Sculpture Walk with works by local sculptors and a bronze statue by Sir Eduardo Paolozzi. Kowloon Park is home to many birds including flamingos that drink in the pools. Other attractions are the maze, Chinese gardens and sports complex. The corner of the park is the Kowloon Mosque and Islamic Centre laid in white marble. Use the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Exit A1 (2724 3344).

Kowloon Walled City Park
A Chinese garden with courtyard, the Old South Gate of the Walled City, sculptures, pavilions and flower displays. The nearest MTR is Lok Fu Exit B and then a longish walk or short taxi ride to the entrance on Tung Tau Tsuen Road.

Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden
Near Tai Po, Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden preserves the natural flora and fauna and the farm promotes organic methods of production. Take KCR to Tai Wo Station and then bus 64K.
