Hong Kong Island and
the Kowloon Peninsula
are separated by the
harbour. Beyond are the
outer islands and the
New Territories. Hong
Kong Airport at Chek
Lap Kok is 23 minutes
by train from the city
centre. The whole vista
of city and harbour is
best viewed from the
top of Victoria Peak
on Hong Kong Island.
Traveling between areas
in Hong Kong is easy
using the efficient transport
system.
The main hotels are
located in Central, Wan
Chai and Causeway Bay
on Hong Kong Island and
in Tsim Sha Tsui and
Tsim Sha Tsui East in
Kowloon. The New Territories
have resort style hotels
that are designed for
relaxation and not very
convenient for business
or shopping.
Admirality
is a business location
with shopping malls,
cinema complex and
restaurants. Causeway
Bay is a popular shopping
district on Hong Kong
Island. Central is the
financial district with
all the banks and financial
institutions alongside
the shopping malls and
leisure activities. Tsim
Sha Tsui on Kowloon contrasts
bright lights with tranquil
parks and Colonial buildings.
Tsim Sha Tsui East is
a major hotel, shopping
and nightlife area with
a waterfront promenade.
At the end of the promenade
is Hung Hom Station,
for trains to the New
Territories and mainland
China.
Hong Kong blends
old and new, Asian
and Western. Temples
are found alongside 21st
century buildings,
traditions mix with modern
living. Chinese and Western
culture flourish together.
