Horse racing
Horse racing
has taken place in Hong
Kong since 1846 at Happy
Valley Racecourse. The
track is well organised
with computerised betting
and races broadcast live
on large screens. A second
racecourse is at Sha
Tin and is one of Hong
Kong's largest public
parks.
Racing takes place every
Wednesday evening and
Saturday and Sunday at
the Sha Tin or Happy
Valley Racecourses. Visitors
can either watch from
the public stands or
pay to enter the Hong
Kong Jockey’s Club
Member’s Enclosure.
A passport is needed
to purchase a special
Tourist Badge. To reach
Happy Valley take the
MTR to Causeway Bay station
Exit A and walk down
Wong Nai Chung Road or
take the tram to Happy
Valley Tram Terminus.
For Sha Tin use the KERR
East Rail to Racecourse
station which is open
on race days.
